Holly Pinto asks, “How did I become a Vancouver Island Race Series ambassador?”
How did I become an ambassador for the Vancouver Island Race series?
As the post went up looking for applicants, my immediate thought was that person could never be me. I run too slow, I finish too last, and I don’t have a competitive bone in my body. And then intuition whispered, “But, you are still running and smiling.”
And I thought how cool it would be if there was someone at the back of the pack who was still hyped in participation to just feel the run and to cross the finish line. To be with like-minded friends talking pb’s and sharing training methods. Even though I paced in at the back, I am like everyone there; here to celebrate the run. The VIRS is a place for all athletes, the superstars, and the smiling Sunday seconders.
So I did it.
I submitted to be an ambassador. Because I want to see even more happy-to-be-here average Joes. And maybe if you, my friends, see how just showing up IS winning — also, I heard just participating gets you points. More on this to come.
Between mom life, work life, life life there’s gotta be a breath of air that’s endorphin induced and I believe that’s why we continue to meet up and do the little thing called Vancouver Island Race Series.
I hope to see you on Sunday!
